Dynamic Load Management (DLM) is an energy feature that monitors your building’s energy demands and intelligently manages power distribution to Wallbox chargers.<\/strong> This guide will walk you through enabling DLM<\/strong>, ensuring you get the most out of your charging infrastructure while maintaining energy efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it work?<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Dynamic Load Management (DLM<\/strong>) <\/strong>is a technology that monitors your building’s energy needs. It compares the energy demand to the maximum allowable value. DLM<\/strong> efficiently directs the surplus power to your charging network when the demand is lower than the maximum. However, if the building’s demand equals or exceeds its maximum limit, no additional energy is supplied to the charging stations. This ensures optimal power utilization without overloading the electrical system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One key advantage of DLM<\/strong> is its ability to take advantage of periods when your building’s energy demands are minimal. DLM can supply power to the charging network during these times without increasing the overall power consumption. This smart approach lets you charge your electric vehicles effectively while maintaining energy efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Installation requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before activating Dynamic Load Management, go through the following requirements and ensure they are all met to guarantee proper functionality:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Install a Wallbox energy meter<\/bold>:<\/strong> DLM<\/strong> requires an energy meter sold by Wallbox to be installed. Compatible meters are available in the Wallbox catalogue<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>
  2. Ensure compatibility with other EMS<\/strong>: DLM<\/strong> cannot be used simultaneously with Solar Charging. However, it is fully compatible with all the other EMS.<\/li>
  3. Ensure you are installing the feature in a multiple-charger setup:<\/strong> if you need to install DLM<\/strong> for a single-charger installation, refer to this guide<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Activating Dynamic Load Management with the Wallbox app<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    After your charger and energy meter have been correctly installed by your installer and all the requirements above have been met, you can activate DLM<\/strong> in the Wallbox app by following the steps below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 1: Connect your App to your charger<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    1. Before you begin, ensure your Wallbox charger and Wallbox app run the latest versions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. Open the Wallbox app and log in using your credentials. You can easily register within the app<\/a><\/strong> if you don’t have an account yet.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. Select your charger and ensure your smartphone remains within Bluetooth range throughout the configuration process. Follow these instructions<\/strong><\/a> if your charger isn’t linked to your Wallbox account.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Do you own a Commander 2? You can configure Dynamic Static Load Management directly on its touchscreen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Step 2: Setting up Dynamic Load Management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          Once your charger and Wallbox app are synchronized, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Tap the “Settings<\/strong>” cogwheel icon in the top-right screen’s corner.<\/li>
          2. Tap “Load Management<\/strong>” under “Energy Features<\/strong>“.<\/li>
          3. Specify the number of chargers in your installation, including the Primary charger.<\/li>
          4. Define the \u201cBuilding breaker max. current<\/strong>\u201d corresponding to the maximum current per phase for both the Dynamic Load Management network and the building.<\/li>
          5. Define the “Minimum current per charger<\/strong>” (in amps) for each charger to operate.<\/li>
          6. Turn on Dynamic Load Management.<\/li>
          7. Tap “Save<\/strong>“.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            For correct performance, only a maximum current per phase greater than 6 amps is accepted. Contact Wallbox Service if you have any doubts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Dynamic Load Management is now configured and activated for your charger(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            3. Troubleshooting <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Safety and Warranty Disclaimer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

            Per the applicable local regulations, the charger’s installation, maintenance, and servicing must only be carried out by qualified personnel. Unauthorized installations and modifications will void the manufacturer’s warranty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            3.1. User Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            If you have a compatible meter installed correctly but are still having trouble activating Dynamic Static Load Management, it could be due to your charger not detecting the energy meter. Before contacting your installer, try these troubleshooting steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. Ensure you have a compatible energy meter installed correctly.<\/li>
            2. Check if the energy meter is powered on.<\/li>
            3. Power off and then on your charger. Sometimes, the charger may not recognize the energy meter if powered on after the charger.<\/li>
            4. Verify if your charger’s software is up to date.<\/li>
            5. Close the Wallbox app, reopen it, and disconnect and reconnect the charger via Bluetooth.<\/li>
            6. For Carlo Gavazzi energy meters, ensure that the ‘Rx’ and ‘Tx’ icons are blinking in the bottom right corner of the energy meter screen. If not, try restarting the charger again, as it may not communicate with the meter.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              3.2. Installer Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              If the previous steps haven’t resolved the issue, the installer can perform the following checks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Ensure the wiring between the charger and the energy meter is correct, including proper connections and continuity. Use the appropriate cable type (Cat5e).<\/li>
              2. Power off the charger and the energy meter, then measure the resistance between D+ and D- (or B+ and A- on the energy meter). It should measure around 60 Ohms.<\/li>
              3. Check that the RS485 switch is in position T and the rotary switch is set to a position between 1 and 7.<\/li>
              4. If CT clamps are being used, verify their position and orientation.<\/li>
              5. Power on the meter first, then the charger, and ensure that the meter measures power consumption when the vehicle is charging with household appliances turned on. If the energy meter isn’t measuring vehicle or household consumption, it may be incorrectly wired or damaged.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
