Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.1 What is OCPP? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> Open Charging Point Protocol<\/strong> (OCPP) is the industry standard and open protocol allowing open EV chargers and Charging Station Management Systems (CSMS) communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wallbox offers its own <strong>CSMS <\/strong>(Charging Station Management Systems),<strong>Wallbox Portal<\/strong>, that allows you to <strong>monitor your chargers<\/strong>, <strong>manage users&#8217; access<\/strong> and <strong>monetise them<\/strong>. But if you already use your own CSMS, you can connect your chargers to it using OCPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wallbox <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">uses\u00a0<strong>OCPP 1.6j,<\/strong><\/span><strong> and all Wallbox chargers are compatible with it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.2 Acronyms and Conventions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Various acronyms are used throughout this guide. You can refer to this table as you read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Acronym<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Model<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>OCPP <\/td><td>Open Charge Point Protocol<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>CSMS<\/td><td>Charging Station Management System<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>CP<\/td><td>Charging Point &#8211; <em>the physical system where an EV can be charged<\/em><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>CPO<\/td><td>Charging Point Operator &#8211;<em> person or team managing a set of CPs using a CSMS<\/em><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>VPN<\/td><td>Virtual Private Network<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>EV<\/td><td>Electric Vehicle<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.3 Additional information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on OCPP, you can refer to the official website of the protocol: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.openchargealliance.org\/\">https:\/\/www.openchargealliance.org\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Compatibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.1 Compatible Wallbox chargers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All Wallbox chargers are now OCPP enabled<\/strong>. If you own an older Wallbox charger model and are unsure of its compatibility, contact Wallbox Customer Service for more specific information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.1 Compatible Wallbox EMS <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The OCPP-enabled Wallbox chargers are all compatible with all our EMS<\/strong> (Energy Management Systems): <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-activate-and-use-eco-smart\/\">Solar Charging<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-activate-dynamic-power-sharing-for-your-charger\/\">Dynamic Load Management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-activate-power-sharing\/\">Static Load Management<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-activate-v2h-vehicle-to-home\/\">V2H<\/a>. For detailed information on these features, please refer to their respective guides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, <strong>the Wallbox chargers are designed to work seamlessly with EMS based on OCPP Smart Charging<\/strong>. When utilizing both Wallbox&#8217;s EMS features and OCPP Smart Charging simultaneously, the charging session limits will adhere to the most restrictive settings to ensure optimal performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. OCPP Activation <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.1 Before starting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect your Wallbox CPs to your CSMS using OCPP, you must set up an Internet connection and the chargers OCPP parameters using the Wallbox app or Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note <strong>Wallbox is NOT responsible for any unexpected performance in the CSMS if it has failed to pass the Factory Acceptance Test <\/strong>between CPs and CSMS successfully. <strong>If the Factory Acceptance Test fails, please reach <\/strong>sales@wallbox.com or your regular Sales Representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2 OCPP setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2.1 Wallbox account setup<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-download-the-mywallbox-mobile-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download the Wallbox app<\/a><\/strong> on the PlayStore or the AppStore. Or go to <a href=\"https:\/\/my.wallbox.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/my.wallbox.com\/<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li><li>You must create one if you do not yet own a Wallbox account. You can follow the instructions in this <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-create-a-mywallbox-account-and-login-from-the-portal\/\"><strong>article<\/strong><\/a> to create one using the app or this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-create-a-mywallbox-account-and-log-in-from-the-app\/\">article<\/a><\/strong> to create one using the Portal.<\/li><li>Once your account is created, add your charger to your account by following the steps in this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-add-your-charger-to-your-account-by-scanning-its-qr-code-with-the-mywallbox-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a><\/strong> (if you are using the app) or this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-add-chargers-to-your-account-through-the-portal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a><\/strong> (if you are using the Portal).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2.2 <strong>Charger Internet Connection Setup<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect your charger to your CSMS, you first need to connect it to the Internet. Depending on your charger&#8217;s model, you can connect it using either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ethernet <\/strong>&#8211; <em>plug in your Ethernet connector, and the Internet connection will start automatically.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Wi-Fi<\/strong> &#8211;<em> follow this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-connect-your-charger-to-the-wi-fi-with-the-mywallbox-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a><\/strong> to connect your charger using the Wi-Fi.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Mobile Connectivity <\/strong>(using a 3G\/4G dongle) &#8211; <em>follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-install-the-4g-dongle-provided-with-commander-2-bundle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>article<\/strong><\/a> to connect a Commander 2 using a 3G\/4G dongle<\/em> <em>and this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-install-the-4g-dongle-provided-with-the-copper-sb-kit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a><\/strong> for a Copper SB.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using OCPP with a VPN<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>If your network uses a VPN connection, you shall allow charger connection to Wallbox Cloud by opening:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Domains: *.wall-box.com<\/li><li>Ports: 443 and 80<\/li><li>Access: Outbound<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2.3 OCPP Setup and Activation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your charger is added to your Wallbox account and connected to the Internet, you can configure the OCPP using either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Wallbox app (jump to the &#8220;OCPP Setup with the Wallbox app&#8221; section) <\/li><li>The Wallbox portal (jump to the &#8220;OCPP Setup with the Wallbox portal&#8221; section)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">With the Wallbox app<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To configure an OCPP connection between your charger and your CSMS using the Wallbox app, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log in to the app and select your charger.<\/li><li>Wait until the charger is connected to the Cloud (Internet).<\/li><li>Tap the <strong>Settings cogwheel<\/strong> in the top right corner.<\/li><li>Tap OCPP and <strong>switch on &#8220;Enable OCPP&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In the URL field, indicate your CSMS endpoint.<\/li><li>In the Charge Point Identity field, enter your charge point ID.<\/li><li>Enter your password in the Password field if there is one configured.<\/li><li>Accept the Terms &amp; Conditions, and click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The charger will automatically restart, and the new OCPP configuration will be applied. An OCPP icon will display on your charger app overview screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-danger\">If the OCPP setting is not displaying, your charger <strong>is incompatible <\/strong>with the feature. Contact Wallbox Customer Service to check its compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">With the Wallbox portal<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To configure an OCPP connection between your charger and your CSMS using the Wallbox Portal, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log in to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.wallbox.com\/chargers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Portal<\/a><\/strong> and click <strong>Chargers <\/strong>in the left menu.<\/li><li>Select the required charger and ensure it\u2019s connected to the Internet (the WiFi signal icon should display next to its name).<\/li><li>On the charger overview, click <strong>Settings <\/strong>and go to <strong>Connectivity<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Enable the &#8220;<strong>OCPP WebSocket connection<\/strong>&#8221; switch.<\/li><li>In the URL field, indicate your CSMS endpoint.<\/li><li>In the Charge Point Identity field, enter your charge point ID.<\/li><li>Enter your password in the Password field if there is one configured.<\/li><li>Accept the Terms &amp; Conditions, and click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The charger will automatically restart, and the new OCPP configuration will be applied. An OCPP icon will display on your charger Portal overview screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-danger\">If the OCPP setting is not displaying, your charger <strong>is incompatible<\/strong> with the feature. Contact Wallbox Customer Service to check its compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4 OCPP connection status <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have completed the pairing process between the charger and your CSMS, an OCPP icon will appear on your charger&#8217;s main screen on the Wallbox app and Portal. You will be able to see the OCPP icon on the main screen of your charger on the Wallbox app and Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The icon&#8217;s colour depends on the charger&#8217;s connection status to the CSMS. In contrast, others will still be available and performable using the Wallbox app &amp; Portal. Below is the exact list of actions &amp; features that must be performed using your CSMS or the Wallbox ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Features &amp; actions that must be performed only through the newly connected CSMS:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Charger statistics monitoring<\/li><li>Charger settings management<\/li><li>Scheduled charging sessions Set Up<\/li><li>Users access management<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Features &amp; actions that must be performed only through the Wallbox app &amp; Portal:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">The features below <strong>will NOT be available if the network connection is in a VPN.<\/strong> But the following essential features will still be available if connecting the charger via Bluetooth to the Wallbox app: <br><br>&#8211; Charger software update<br>&#8211; Restart<br>&#8211; Restore<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Offline management (charger connected through Bluetooth)<\/li><li>Charger Software Update<\/li><li>Restart (charger reboot)<\/li><li>Restore (to factory settings)<\/li><li>MID Meter Set Up<\/li><li>EMS Set Up (Static Load Management, Dynamic Static Load Management, Power Boost, Solar Charging)<\/li><li>TN\/TT Ground System Set Up<\/li><li>Current Limit Set Up<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-danger\"><strong>Wallbox EMS (Energy Management System) are NOT compatible with OCPP. <\/strong>They only operate when used with the Wallbox app &amp; Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">To avoid errors and problems with scheduled charging sessions, <strong>use only your CSMS to schedule charging sessions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also important to note the charger &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/how-to-manage-the-auto-lock-of-your-charger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Auto-lock<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/starting-pausing-a-charging-session\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pause\/Resume<\/a><\/strong> a charge&#8221; features will not be available for the chargers connected to another CSMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.6 Using a charger connected via OCPP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the features available through your CSMS or Wallbox CSMS described in the previous section, the chargers will continue to follow the same behaviour as described in the guides available on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallbox.support.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wallbox Support website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To better understand the different status of your charger according to the colour indicated by their status LED, you can refer to their guide below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/understanding-the-color-code-of-your-pulsars-led\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pulsar<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/pulsar-plus-status-leds-colours-meaning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pulsar Plus<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/understanding-the-pulsar-max-led-status-lights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pulsar Max<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/understanding-the-colour-code-of-your-copper-sb-led\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Copper SB<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.wallbox.com\/en\/knowledge-base\/understanding-the-colour-code-of-your-commander-2-led\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Commander 2 &amp; 2S<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unlocking a charger<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>When your charger is connected via OCPP to your CSMS, users will be able to unlock the charger by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Using an RFID card<\/li><li>Introducing a PIN code (Commander 2 only)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AuthEnabled in CSMS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>When the CPO has set the <strong>AuthEnabled <\/strong>to TRUE in the CSMS, the charger is unlocked and will not need authorization through an RFID card or PIN.<br>By connecting the EV gun, the charger will start charging according to the car&#8217;s demand.<br>When the AuthEnabled is set to TRUE, the charger status LED will remain Yellow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OCPP connection status remains in \u201cConnecting\u201d<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Check network connection status and OCPP parameters setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I can not start a new charge.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Check OCPP connection status, RFID authorization and Charge Point availability with your Charge Point Operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I can not unlock the charger with the RFID card.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Check the RFID code.
